about

A very emotional song about missing a loved one. In Free, Vic is dealing with the troubles he felt after losing a childhood friend due to overdosing of drugs.
We struggled a lot in the studio to get the right feelings into this song: sorrow, suffering, pain, anguish, relief, freedom, hope etc.

lyrics

Lyrics:

You take the high road
I will, I will take the low road
I see you at the end of the world
I'll see you on my rebirth
I want to feel your body next to me once more
To hold your hand
But you're a million miles away
You're away from me

Why did you have to leave?
I can never, never, never conceive
The love you gave, the time we shared
Too good to this world, you always cared
Just one last caress
I'll hold you 'til the end of time
And no more pain
You're so fine, you're always mine
You're in my mind

If you take the high road
I will, I will take the low road
You deserve the best out there
Golden trees, I wish you were here
Raindrops on the windowpane
Together with tears I kiss the rain
It's like a crying world
And you're a million miles away
You're away from me

CHORUS:
But now you're free
Free from pain and free from anguish
A step into the void
A step into the empty darkness
I miss you so, it's unfair the sacrifices
Everlasting sleep
Free from pain and free from anguish

I call your name again
No answer, cries in vain
I call your name again
Fragments of voices in the rain
I kiss you goodbye
Ride that train
And you're free from anguish
